Murfreesboro man convicted in slaying of Michael Bell of Jackson

A Murfreesboro man was convicted today in the 2010 slaying of Michael Bell of Jackson, according to a news release from the Jackson Police Department.

The release said the verdict followed a three day trial, which concluded today in Madison County Circuit Court, Division III.

Roger McPherson, 21, was on trial for first – degree murder. The jury found him guilty of the lesser crime of voluntary manslaughter, according to the release.

The judge reduced McPherson’s bond from $250,000
