Hoe Down, Show Down! (Murfreesboro Jokes and Comedy)

As most good Tennesseans, I’m a fan of country music. However, some of today’s lyrics leave a lot to be desired. Must country songwriters lament over the everyday details of their life? Do we really need to hear a song about someone taking a drink of spoiled milk or a broken washing machine? It isn’t imperative that lyrics contain deep symbolism, but I would like a little more thought than what went into the song I heard on the radio this morning.

“Rain makes corn. Corn makes whiskey. Whiskey makes my baby feel a little frisky.
Back roads are boggin’ up. Buddies pile up in my truck.
We hunt our honeys down. We take ‘em into town.
Start warshin’ all our worries down the drain. Rain is a good thang.” -Luke Bryan

However, if one can make lemonade by writing a song about the proverbial lemons handed to them on a daily basis, then perhaps I too can be a song writer. Just going on what has happened so far today, I may already have the makings of a pretty good song.

(to the tune of Yankee Doodle)
I drove to the gynecologists this morning down town.
I got undressed and waited in a tissue paper gown.
He said, “Just relax and you are going to feel my handy.”
I said, “Please don’t use too much goo so I don’t slip when I standy.”

Ok, I’m not saying it’s going to go platinum right away, but it’s not horrible either. Given more than five minutes, there’s no telling what else I could come up with. Considering what will happen at tomorrow’s country club play date followed by a trip to the bank, I might have an entire album written by next week. See you folks at the CMA’s.
