Zelenik Campaign Kickoff Barbeque Draws Hundreds
Over 500 Sixth District residents showed up Tuesday night for Lou Ann Zelenik’s campaign kickoff barbeque dinner at Murfreesboro’s Barfield Crescent Park.
Rick’s Barbecue catered, and half-way through the meal, people already were raving about the barbecue. By the time Zelenik was done with her stump speech, however, they were raving about the candidate.
Zelenik noted her experience organizing last year’s tax day Tea Party on the Murfreesboro square, and her pro-life and anti-corruption stances as reasons why people should support her.
It seems to have worked.
“I voted for Obama,” said Smyrna resident Victoria Johnson speaking to Lou Ann Zelenik, “and I’m sorry that I did. You know, I’ve been waiting for a long time for someone in Washington to say what you said tonight, and I’d like to volunteer for your campaign.” “We converted an Obama supporter,” said Zelenik, moved by the offer of support.
The Zelenik campaign has not announced details for the candidate’s next public event, although she is expected in the mean time to attend various local events organized by others around the district.
