Registration Begins for Murfreesboro Half Marathon
October 16th of this year marks the fourth annual Murfreesboro Half Marathon and Kids Fun Run, and registration to participate is now open.
From now until the end of the month, participants can register for the half marathon for $50, $55 through June 1, and $65 through August 1, or until the 2,250 participant limit is reached. Last year’s rase sold out of its 2,000 stickiest in record time, so the number of participants was raised to accommodate more participants.
The Kids Fun Run costs $15 to register, and is limited to 250 children, ages 6–13. Admission to the MTSU track and soccer field will be free to those wishing to attend the beginning and ends of the race, and volunteers can sign up soon on the website.
The 13.1-mile Half Marathon begins and ends at the track & soccer field at MTSU at 7 AM on October 16th, just after the 6:55 start of the wheelchair race. Running through the heart of Middle Tennessee, presented by Middle Tennessee Medical Center, and in fact passing right next to the geographic center of the state, the race has been nicknamed “The Middle Half.”
Those who want to participate may do so (and also may read more about the Marathon) at www.TheMiddleHalf.com , or mail-in forms may be downloaded or gotten from a number of local businesses, including Fleet Feet Sports, Barfield Crescent Part, Patterson Park Community Center, and Sports*Com.
Local sponsors of the event include Middle Tennessee Medical Center, The City of Murfreesboro, Murfreesboro Parks & Recreation, Fleet Feet Sports, Middle Tennessee State University, Jim ’N Nick‘s Bar-B-Q. Several media outlets also are sponsoring the event.
