NASA Comes To Murfreesboro; Murfreesboro goes to Turkey
NASA has been teaming up with Murfreesboro City Schools to teach students about the universe, and as one part of the program comes to an end, another is just beginning.
On May 11th, Mrs. Mall’s and Mrs. Pepelea’s classes had to be in their seats early — at 6:45 in the morning — for a videoconference with NASA and a sister class in Istanbul, Turkey, to learn about humans in space. The last of five such videoconferences, this series is soon to be followed by a two-week trip to Turkey, led by Mrs. Mall. Eleven students will participate in the two-week Space Camp excursion facilitated by Global Friendship Through Space Education, an exclusive club including schools from over eleven countries and including only four American campuses.
Last year, Mrs. Burt, Mel Prater, and four students from Hobgood Elementary went to Turkey as Ambassadors in order to help found the Discovery program.
