Murfreesboro Makes up for Antioch’s Loss: Go Hastings!
Several years ago, Media Play was one of the most fun places to shop. With everything from comics to DVDs to video games (sorry, no bikes or trains there), Media Play was a Mecca for geeks, nerds, and otaku alike. However, bad management and a corporate history so convoluted it can hardly be travced led to the eventual closure of the company, and its former Antioch location has since been remodeled into a church.
Murfreesboro, however, has better: Hastings; it’s still in business and going strong.
Hastings has everything Media Play had: music, movies, books, memorabilia, and video games, but it offers several things the former media-giant-wannabe didn’t have: media rentals, memorabilia à la Spencer’s Gifts, and a coffee shop. Oh, and you can sell your old media to Hastings, too; they’ll buy it and put it on their shelves for the next person to buy at a discount.
The location here in Murfreesboro can be found at 1660 Memorial Boulevard, right near McAlister’s Deli. Hastings’ website can be found at www.GoHastings.com .
