Middle Tennessee State University Educates Thousands
Founded in 1911 as a state normal school for training educators, Middle Tennessee State University now is the largest educator in Tennessee, weighing in at over 25,000 enrollees annually.
With 137 permanent buildings on 4.2 million sq. ft. (over 515 acres) of land located just a mile from the geographic center of the state, MTSU is the hub of education in Tennessee.
MTSU offers studies in eight colleges: Basic and Applied Sciences, the Jennings A. Jones College of Business, Continuing Studies and Distance Learning, Education, Honors, Liberal Arts, Mass Communication, and Graduate Studies; and eight baccalaureate degrees: Arts, Business Administration, Fine Arts, Music, Science, Science in Nursing, Social Work, and University Studies.
Also, the College of Graduate Studies offers Master’s degrees in ten areas, as well as a Specialist in Education dgree, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree.
With 930 full-time faculty and a vibrant campus lifestyle, including both student-run radio, 88.3 FM, and NPR, 89.5 FM, as well as the Channel 10 student TV station, various student publications, and a vivacious athletic program including a recently-remodeled $34 M recreation center, MTSU students love their alma mater.
