Lookout, New Light Ahead for Murfreesboro
A City of Murfreesboro official says the city will be getting a new traffic light at the intersection of Cherry Lane and Memorial Boulevard sometime in the next three months.
Murfreesboro city Traffic Engineer Ram Balachandran has been studying the intersection for three years, but only last year did his research show that the traffic volume of the intersection in question warranted a signal. After waiting several months for TDOT to respond to his request for the light, the plan was put in place for the new stoplight to be built.
S&W Contractors, who holds this year’s contract to do this type of work, will invoice the city between $25,000 and $30,000 for the whole kit-and-caboodle, and the city will have to shell out an estimated $500 annually for electrical costs.
