Healing Field Brings Memorial to Murfreesboro’s Memorial Day
This Memorial Day weekend, the Murfreesboro Noon Exchange Club honored fallen American soldiers with the Club’s second annual Healing Field.
Located on Medical Center Parkway in Murfreesboro, the Healing Field contained hundreds of three-by-five foot American flags standing proudly, eight feet high in perfect rows and columns.
Located next to The Avenue shopping center, the “living display,” as the group’s press release calls it, “[flew] as a temporary patriotic tribute to the strength and unity of Americans,” to honor fallen and retired heroes and currently serving American service members alike.
The flags were set in an open field, providing an opportunity for local men, women, and children to meander the display, remembering and paying tribute to our real heroes, present and past.
This small piece of modern day Americana was open to the public, free of charge, although it did also function as a benefit for Programs of Service of the Murfreesboro Noon Exchange Club and The Exchange Club Family Center.
There is no word yet on whether the groups plan a third annual Healing Field in 2011.
